2009 – Bring it on!

CookieWeb.ie is finally up and live and raring to go!

There was a lot of interest when Orla and I announced at the end of 2008 that we were starting our company and, not surprisingly, a lot of it centered around the big R – the Recession. Were we worried, nervous, crazy? Well no. In fact we’re kinda confident that our brand of business is going to suit the new world order. We did of course also get a lot of positive feedback along the lines of ‘a recession is the best time to start a business’ and tellingly it came from business women and men who’d been around for a while, not just the boom time.

So as this is our first post I thought we should outline some of the choices we’ve made in starting our own company and how we think this will help keep Cookie Web ship shape through the financial crisis. (You will come to know that I love a good list.)

1) We work from home.
Phew – it’s out and proud! We work from offices situated in our own homely dwellings! And whilst it could be possible that we answer the first call of the day in our pj’s it actually probably means more to you that there are no costly leasing fees that we have to pass on to you in our daily rate.

2) We’re based in the midlands
Mullingar and Kilcock are where it’s at! Whoo!! We’re not going to give you some fakey Dublin address and pretend we’re based there like that makes us a better web development company or anything. That being said we do love getting to Dublin as often as possible so we’re very happy to meet you there! Or in Galway or Letterkenny…

3) We’re a small company
We maybe small but we’re perfectly formed – experience, talent, efficiency and enthusiasm. If we do need to outsource we use a tried and tested team of freelancers from Ireland, Spain and Australia.

3) We don’t try to sell you something you don’t need
At Cookie Web we pride ourselves on building solutions for our clients that fit their requirements and their budget. We don’t have proprietary software that needs users and we don’t try to sell you a bakery if all you need is a slice of cake. Funnily enough this keeps everyone happy – you get what you need and we get happy clients 🙂

4) We’re not scared of the B word.
We’re not afraid to discuss budgets – large and small. And we love working with little budgets ’cause we love a challenge! We’ve put a range of pricing on our website to give an idea of what you might expect to pay for a lovely Cookie website.

5) We really love doing this web stuff.
Remember being in love? You have boundless energy, you smile a lot, you get really excited about the next meeting… Well that’s how we feel about our job! We’ve got loads of enthusiasm and a genuine love for what we do – that’s bound to make a difference in what we deliver to our clients.

    Well done guys!
The Cookie web site looks fantastic, which is not surprising, considering the excellent job you did on the Kavaleer website. I will be certainly checking on the site from time to time and the Kavaleer team and I wish you the very best of luck for the future.
    All the best
    Gary.
